Mr. Mikaal ABDULLA
CEO & Co-Founder, 8 Securities
 
Mr. Abdulla, is a member of Fintech Asia 100. He is the co-founder and CEO of 8 Securities, which launched Asia's 1st robo-advisor, Asia's 1st free stock trading, Asia's 1st social trading and Asia's 1st first licensed brokerage run in the cloud. He led E*TRADE Asia prior to starting his company. His journey has taken him through Silicon Valley, New York, London, Dubai, Mumbai, Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo. Mr. Abdulla holds an MBA from both Columbia University and the London Business School. He is very involved in Asia's startup community and am a guest writer for Tech in Asia. [Top]
 
 
Dr. Caleb CAO
Senior Data Scientist, Director of Science Department, FDT AI Limited
 
Dr. Caleb Chen CAO is currently a Senior Data Scientist and the Director of Science Department at FDT-AI, working with a group of talented researchers and engineers on the general topic of adapting most recent AI advances in the activities of trading and investment. Specifically in FDT-AI, he has initiated and/or participated in the research line of FDTScore, FDT-RA(Robo-advisor), FOF/MOM management system, AI-driven trading assistant and so on.
His research interest ranges over machine learning and stochastic combinatorial optimization, while he obtained a PhD degree from HKUST in 2014, major in probabilistic databases and its application in online crowdsourcing models. Before that, he obtained a BEng degree from BUPT in 2010, major in Telecommunication Engineering.  [Top]
 
 
Dr. Alfred MA

Dr. Alfred Ma received his BSc and MPhil degree in Mathematics from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and his PhD in Operations Research from Columbia University. He is a CFA charterholder, a Professional Risk Manager, and an Associate of the Society of Actuaries. His research has appeared in practitioner’s journals such as the Journal of Asset Management, Journal of Computational Finance, and the Journal of Trading.   [Top]
 
 
Mr. Joe NGAI
Director, Managing Partner, McKinsey & Company Greater China Office
 

Mr. Joe Ngai is Managing Partner of McKinsey’s Greater China office, which is comprised of more than 550 Partners and consultants across offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Taipei.

Previously he led McKinsey’s Financial Institutions and Private Equity Practices in Greater China. He has led many large-scale transformation efforts for Chinese as well as multinational institutions, and has advised senior management on topics pertaining to strategy, operations transformation, mergers & acquisitions, and organizational transformation.

Joe is quoted frequently in top-tier publications such as The Economist, The Financial Times, and The Wall Street Journal, and in major local media in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. He is the author of numerous reports and articles on China’s financial institutions, and he co-authored two editions of “Life Insurance in Asia” (John Wiley), the first comprehensive look at the challenges and opportunities facing insurance markets across Asia. Joe speaks frequently at major international forums on a range of topics including financial services, leadership and management, and social enterprises.

Joe has been appointed to various government advisory committees, including the Financial Services Development Council and the Financial Infrastructure Committee of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. He is also a Board Member of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park, the Antiquities Advisory Board, and the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme.

Joe is passionate about and active with several organizations in the social enterprise and education sectors. He is the Chairman of DiamondCab, an award-winning social enterprise that provides taxi services to handicapped people, a director of the Diocesan Boys’ School Foundation, and a former president of the Harvard Business School Association of Hong Kong.

A Hong Kong native, Joe received his AB in economics from Harvard University, as well as his JD and MBA from Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School.  [Top]
 
 
 
Prof. WONG, Chak Kei, Jack
Managing Director of Financial Products at Ping An Asset Management, Professor of Practice in Financial Technology, The Chinese University of Hong Kong

Professor Chak Wong is currently Managing Director of Financial Products at Ping An Asset Management. Previously, he was Asia Head of Sovereign and Financial Institutions at Societe Generale. As Professor of Science Practice in the Mathematics department of HKUST, he taught courses on the application of stochastic differential equation to counterparty credit risk and funding valuation adjustment, the application of machine learning to finance markets as well as risk management for banks and insurances. He worked full time as Professor of Finance Practice at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Director of MSc in Finance program, Associate Director of MBA program and Director of Business Development of The Asia Pacific Institute of Business, while serving the Deposit Protection Board and its Investment Committee of HKMA. Before returning to academia in 2010, Professor Wong was Managing Director and Head of Structuring of IBD Asia including Japan of Barclays Capital. He was responsible for client risk advisory and risk management solutions across all asset classes. Professor Wong was Managing Director and trader in UBS London and Hong Kong, co-heading the APAC structured products groups which trades and designs products including all asset classes and hybrids. He also spent a number of years in London in Goldman Sachs as Executive Director, working as a strategist/quant and trader for rate, FX and inflation. Prior to that, he was a quantitative analyst in credit derivative and emerging market in Morgan Stanley, London. He built a language for constructing credit derivative products, models for interest rate and hybrid products, as well as high dimensional PDE solver and Monte Carlo engines. 

Professor Wong studied in The Chinese University of Hong Kong and University of California at Berkeley. His major was Electronic Engineering with minors in Pure Mathematics and French. He obtained his DPhil and MPhil degrees in Economics from the University of Oxford. He was Rhodes Scholar of Hong Kong 1995. [Top]
